The Fallacy of Binary
Written, Produced, Directed, and Performed by Adrian Parhamovich.
Music: "Kuroi Light" - Tanuichi Hideki

This piece is a statement on gender expression in our society and the effects that a binary gender system has on us every day. It can be applied to anyone, but it is specifically targeted to individuals in the transgender community. We all suffer to some degree due to the pressures put on us to fulfill our expected gender roles, but it is starkly evident in the lives of transgender men and women. The majority of the film is shown through the use of hands without revealing a face. As the film progresses, you'll see activities that anyone might do on a daily basis, but a darker tone is set by the inner thoughts of the people as they go through the day. You'll notice that the voices become more and more in sync as time progresses, with the last scene being in complete unison as the face is finally revealed.

This montage follows a young writer in his immense frustration at not being able to find the right words. His anxious writing process is combined with a frantic rush to deliver the final product to its intended recipient. What does he write? Watch and find out.

Summoning Nocturnal Rain
Inspired by Disney's Fantasia, I decided to create an animation sequence based on what I imagined as I listened to the music. I wrote the music with a vague idea in mind for a silhouette dance performance, but I wasn't sure what was going to happen until the music was finished. This piece follows an individual as he and the living things around him make music with their environment. I filmed this using my own greenscreen, then composited the footage with the animations in After Effects.

Our Beloved Sanctuary
This piece is meant to give a meditative sense of a peaceful safe haven. Everything you see in the video is something meaningful in my home, either mine or Jenny's personal effects. Our home has blossomed out of a deep love and we have worked hard to make it a welcoming sanctuary for anyone who comes through the door. The notes that appear throughout the piece are excerpts from a collection of love notes we have written to each other. Watch and breathe deep...
